Before you begin
- Orchestris Chat is installed or available from your server at /app/.
- For projects and synchronized conversations, sign in to an Orchestris Server organization.
Know where a conversation is stored
Orchestris Chat can keep conversation history on one device or synchronize it through an Orchestris Server. Check that choice before you organize or delete a conversation.
| History type | Where it is available | What it supports |
|---|---|---|
| Server-backed | The same signed-in user on the same server and organization | Sync across devices and assignment to Projects in that server and organization |
| Local-only, direct-provider, or privacy mode | Only this app installation or browser profile | No server history synchronization and no server-backed Projects |

Find and filter conversations
- 1
Search the conversation list
Enter part of a conversation title in Search conversations. Clear the field to return to the full list.
- 2
Show only local conversations
Select the lock filter on a wider layout, or open Conversation list actions on a compact layout and choose Show only local conversations.
- 3
Change date grouping
Use the grouping control to enable or disable date-based sections without changing the conversations themselves.
Rename or delete conversations
- 1
Open the conversation menu
Use the menu on the conversation row. Choose Rename to update its title, or Delete to remove it.
- 2
Use multi-select on wider layouts
Turn on Multi-select mode, choose Select All or select individual chats, then choose Move to Project or Delete. Compact layouts do not show the multi-select toolbar.
- 3
Confirm destructive actions
Deleting one or more conversations cannot be undone. For a server-backed conversation, the deletion synchronizes to the same user scope on other devices.
Organize server-backed chats with projects
Projects group conversations for one server, organization, and owner. A local-only conversation cannot be assigned to a project, and conversations from different server or organization scopes cannot be moved together.
- 1
Create a project
Expand Projects and choose the create-project control. Enter a project name and, when prompted, select the server and organization scope.
- 2
Start or move a chat
Use New chat within a project, or choose Move to Project from a conversation menu. Multi-select can move several compatible conversations at once.
- 3
Remove a chat from a project
Open Move to Project and choose Unassigned. This keeps the conversation and removes only its project assignment.
- 4
Rename or delete a project
Use the project menu. Deleting a project makes its chats unassigned; it does not delete the conversations.
